Building the list - a few techniques
Here are some techniques people use to get people to join their email list:
1. Blogging - in my opinion, this must be done. You need a place to send people to check you out. If you send them to a formal website, you risk losing them.
2. Social networking - this helps people to get to know and trust you. If you have a good blog, people will join your newsletter list if they like your personality and your approach to business. You can use Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn to show people where your blog is.
3. Video - don't pass this one by. I have not done this yet, but I will because I personally prefer to learn from videos than reading text so I figure there are plenty more people who are like me. You need to do a lot of writing, though, to pick up the people who are not video oriented. Using a comination of blogging and video is very powerful.
4. Podcasting - some people prefer the radio style audio format rather than video. As one fellow said, if you look like a dork, do podcasting. Well, you don't have to actually have your mug in the video. You could simply do a show and tell like this . I am not a big fan of podcasting.
Make a sign for your desk so you will see it every day when you sit down to do your tasks.
BUILD MY LIST - THE TICKET TO SUCCESS
Not saying that is the only way to succeed. Not at all. But if you are going to be successful online, it is, in my opinion, the best way.
Continuing the list building adventure tomorrow. Must see a doctor in a bit. Nothing life threatening, just needs to be done.

List building your local business

Picture: Kennedy Adventure fitness center in Paso Robles, CA 93446
Last night I attended a weight loss seminar at my local health club. I don't need to lose weight, of course. That's my story and I'm sticking with it!
But in the interest of total honesty I could stand to lose some pounds, so I had a selfish interest in the seminar.
The seminar is run by a nutritionist who believes that we should eat "only what God made and nothing man-made." So, if I signed on to her holistic non-pill program (the only kind I would consider) I would have to exclude my morning breakfast of Grape Nuts and most of the pizza I treasure. Not sure I can do that.
At the beginning of the seminar the nutruitionist asked us to put our name, phone and email address on a sheet of paper she passed around to the prospective clients. I joked, "That's called list building!"
She said, "Yes, list building."
I was struck by her comment because I did not expect her to be familiar with the concept of building an email list to keep in touch with prospects and customers. She is not an internet marketer. I don't think she has a website yet. But she did know what list building can do for her.
If I had to guess about the number of people she has on her email list I would say abou 200. This led me to think that her list may be much more responsive than one of 2,000 solicited by the normal squeeze page process. After all, the people who are on her list already know what she looks and sounds like and they definitely are interested in losing weight.
Which type and size email list would you prefer?

List Building Tips - 4 Best Places to Advertise Your Squeeze Page
Guest post by By David J Ogden
There is an old saying that goes something like, "What if you threw a party and nobody came?" The same thing could be true when it comes to building a list. We can ask you, what if you design the most beautiful squeeze page in the world and nobody ever saw?
The people that build the largest lists are the ones that know how to promote their squeeze page in ways that attract visitors to it.
There are many different ways you can promote your squeeze page and none of them are wrong if they get you subscribers. However, let's zero in on what could be the 4 best places to advertise your squeeze page right now.
1. Blog like crazy and put your squeeze page on every blog post. You could even post a banner at the top in your header that it goes to your squeeze page. Another thing you can do is have any sign up form on your sidebar that either leads to the squeeze page or directly to your mailing list autoresponder.
Blogging is very popular with search engines and readers alike. So you may as well benefit from it by getting more subscribers and figuring out ways to lead them to your squeeze page.
2. Put it at the bottom of your web pages. One mistake that seems to be very common is people build large websites with content and yet never have a sign up form on it. One technique that works extremely well is to actually put your squeeze page at the bottom of every web page you have. This works extremely well if you have a website that is big on content built around articles.
3. Use pay per click advertising and drive the visitors to your squeeze page. This may or may not be for you depending on your budget right now. It definitely is an actual way to build a large list quickly because you will only be paying for traffic that actually clicks on the link leading to your squeeze page.
4. Create a resource box and do article marketing in a big way. When we say a big way we are talking about writing and submitting 10 to 20 articles per day. If you have a resource box include a link to your squeeze page and you are bound to build a large list.
These are four of the best places to advertise your squeeze page. Do not limit yourself just to these 4 and do whatever it takes to get your squeeze page out in front of people.
