Getting traffic with your articles

Guest Post

Tim Gorman emerged as an article marketing guru a couple of years ago. He managed to create a buzz about his marketing style and I am sure he is successful driving targeted traffic to his websites.

4 Tips For Article Marketing - How to Drive More Traffic to Your Website With Your Articles

Article marketing is considered one of the most productive forms of traffic generation for anyone seriously trying to run a profitable online business. And for good reason, article marketing works at driving targeted traffic to websites. Based on the ROI that a well crafted article can provide for its creator it's no small wonder why article marketing is one of the most discussed forms of Internet traffic generation within online marketing forums across the world wide web.

Unfortunately, many new article marketers get quickly discouraged when they don't see the results that are often discussed in Internet marketing forums. Results like an increase in targeted traffic, an increase in affiliate sales or an increase in income from their websites. The good news is there are a few things you can do to help increase the ROI from the articles you submit to the article directories.

Here are four article marketing tips that will help you get the most out of your article marketing efforts.

Article Marketing Tip #1

1 - Without a doubt the most important portion of your article that will determine its initial success or failure is the title of your article. You need to make sure that you have an eye-catching title for web surfers while at the same time ensuring that the title is making good use of a long-tail keyword phrase in order to rank well in the search engines.

Article Marketing Tip #2

2 - Your article will need to be written in a structured manner that is easy for your readers. Many Internet surfers tend to read quickly by scanning an article and pausing when they see something that catches their interests. In order to make sure the visitors to your articles stay engaged and read your article from beginning to end you will need to make use of bullet points, sub headings, small paragraphs and a word count of around 300 - 500 words.

Article Marketing Tip #3

3 - If you have spent any time on the Internet poking around in Internet marketing forums then chances are good that you already know content is king. So, it only makes sense to write an article that provides valuable information for its reader. Remember, you are trying to build your reputation as an authority figure on the subject you are writing about so, rather then focus on selling a product or writing the same information that can be found elsewhere you should instead make a concentrated effort to craft an article that is both valuable and compelling for your reader.

Article Marketing Tip #4

4 - If your article title was important to get your visitor and your article body needed to be quality content to engage your reader then you want to make sure that your article summary provides just enough information to be eye-catching and descriptive enough to tell your reader exactly what your article is about so they can make a quick determination as to whether or not they want to read your article. You may only have one shot with this so make sure it is your best.

Article marketing is a fantastic way of promoting your online business, websites, services or products on the Internet. By following the four tips I have outlined in this article you will see an increase on your investment that will equate to more traffic and ultimately more net profit.

Caution! All SEO service is equal

This is a guest post from a fellow whose philosophy appears to mirror mine about SEO. Enjoy!

Different Companies Offer Different SEO Services
by Andy Calloway

Search engine optimisation is still a pretty misunderstood service and it's small wonder - people are bombarded with information about it all the time and yet much of this information is extremely confusing and hard for the layman to understand.

SEO services are usually offered in segments with the most obvious one being 'search engine submission' which everybody seems to think is the answer to all their problems. Very often people expect that when they've submitted their site to Google it will be available within a few days - I feel a little sad for them when I explain that it will take six to eight months for them to see any real results!

You see, 'site submission', although it is one of the most common SEO services offered by consultants and 'all things to all buyers' websites is probably a massive distraction. I've seen adverts from companies offering to submit your site to thousands of search engines for very little outlay and many people believe this will get them a boat load of traffic.

Unfortunately, it won't.

Your site will not be ranked highly by Google based on you telling it you exist. It will only rank highly if you tell it that your site is relevant and interesting, and you can't do that by submitting it to all and sundry.

SEO services that are worthwhile

When you engage an SEO services company then you need to be looking for one that understands the need for quality content publication and effective off-site link building. But not just building any old links - they need to be quality links from good websites with high regard at Google and these just can't be bought in bulk.

I have seen adverts for sites offering thousands of back-links for little cash and they really only help if your product or service is in an area that has very little competition. If you have any competition that has done even a little bit of decent SEO, they will beat you. Five good quality links will beat a thousands poor quality links easily.

So, ensure your SEO company is offering a service where they will promote your company through articles, participating in forums and general off-site content building. But you should also be looking at what your site says to your customer. A good site will make it easier for the visitor to buy from you, period. If your site is easy to buy from and your visitors can understand it then it will also be easy for Google to understand.

And this leads on to something I have mentioned in many of my articles - don't ever optimise for Google. Optimise for your customers, they're the ones that buy from you and they're the ones that will eventually make your fortunes.

Website traffic - getting started

Traffic Generation without breaking the bank

If you are starting out trying to make money on the Internet, the biggest problem you will face is getting targeted traffic to your website or blog.

Using Google's Adwords program, especially in some niches like "making money online" are simply out of the reach of people when CPC costs can shoot as high as a buck or two or more.

It's not something you want to get into with limited funds. So how does one just starting out get traffic to their site without spending a fortune on advertising?

This article is going to go over a few ways that are quite effective and cost very little.
At the top of the list is article writing and marketing. Not only is this cheap, it's actually something you can do for free. The only cost is the time spent in writing the articles themselves. The process is quite simple. You write an article for whatever niche you're involved in and submit it to article directories in order to get listed in the search engines. Of course you will also get traffic directly from people going to the article directories themselves.

The best directory for submission is Ezine Articles, but there are many more to choose from.
Another great way to get traffic to your site without spending a lot of money is putting up a blog with content. The process is very simple for affiliate marketers.

First, you setup the blog with content. Part of that content should be a review of the product that you're promoting. Most product creators will be more than happy to give you a preview copy if you tell them that you're interested in promoting their product.

After you've written the review and put up the content, simply go to social bookmarking sites, like Digg, and bookmark your blog. This will drive immediate traffic to your site. If you use a free blog like Blogger, this process also has no cost to it.

Finally, there is forum participation. Most forums will allow you to have a signature file promoting your site. While you can't blatantly promote your site through the forum posts, by engaging in the discussions and adding valuable content to them, over time, people will begin to trust you and as you gain a reputation at the forum, they will begin to look to your signature and start visiting your site. Again, this can be done at no cost at all.
You don't have to have a lot of money to begin driving traffic to your site.

By using articles, putting up blogs and participating in forums, you can begin to drive traffic to your site literally within days and at no cost at all.
